      Recruitment

Garnett Keeler is always interested in talking to potential recruits, even if there are no immediate vacancies.  The company likes to maintain a small list of potential recruits at account handler level who are known to the Directors and/or senior staff.

Garnett Keeler welcomes applications from candidates with a wide variety of social, academic, national, racial, religious and professional backgrounds.  The company is increasingly diverse in its client base, and key markets and recruitment strategy reflects this trend.

Current Vacancies

Who do we recruit?

Garnett Keeler recruits account-facing staff primarily from three sources:

Experienced public relations professionals (account handlers) from within the PR industry.  A record of achievement within the industry and evidence of strong account handling skills will be required.
Journalists from credible daily newspapers, leading trade publications, New Media or the broadcast sector entering PR for the first time.  Professional qualifications and a record of achievement within the media will be a prerequisite.
Graduate and non-graduate trainees.  Applicants must have strong English language skills, and must be articulate, socially confident, well groomed and have high energy levels.  Ability to understand and master a brief quickly will be tested.

Only first-jobbers are recruited from outside the PR industry or the media.  Garnett Keeler has an international client base and welcomes applications from those whose first language is not English.

Recruitment procedures at Garnett Keeler may involve aptitude testing and practical exercises.  References will be taken up and credentials will be checked.

Culture

Garnett Keeler has a "collar and tie" business culture which places a premium on professionalism.

Selection

Selection in the first instance is usually by letter and CV.  E-mailed applications are also accepted (see Contact for details).

Applicants may then receive a telephone call from one of the recruiters.  This will just be a casual and informal chat and an opportunity for both parties to seek clarification and answer questions.
